Cephalometric Tracing and Analysis
Measurements traced on a lateral ceph X-ray, using the analysis your orthodontist asks for.

What is cephalometry?
Cephalometry is the analysis of measurements on a lateral ceph X-ray. Anatomical landmarks are marked, and angles and distances are calculated to describe the position of the jaws, the tilt of the teeth and the facial profile. Orthodontists use those numbers to support the diagnosis, plan treatment and compare progress over time.
The analysis your orthodontist needs
There are many cephalometric analyses — Ricketts, Steiner, McNamara and Jarabak, among others — and each specialist has preferences. Make sure the order names the analysis, and we'll confirm availability and turnaround on WhatsApp.
For patients
If your orthodontist asked for "cephalometry" or a "lateral ceph with tracing," the X-ray we take is the lateral ceph; the tracing is done on that image afterward. The X-ray takes a few seconds and needs no preparation.
FAQ
Cephalometry FAQ
Are cephalometry and a lateral ceph the same thing?
Not quite. The lateral ceph is the X-ray; cephalometry is the set of measurements made on it.
Which analyses do you offer?
The ones your orthodontist requests. Confirm the analysis with us on WhatsApp before you come.
When will it be ready?
The X-ray is usually ready the same day in digital format. Ask us on WhatsApp about turnaround for the tracing.
