TMJ (Jaw Joint) CBCT Scan in Boca del Río
A 3D scan of the bony parts of the jaw joints — the joints just in front of your ears — ordered by your dentist or doctor.

What a TMJ scan shows
The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects your lower jaw to your skull, just in front of each ear. A CBCT scan shows its bony parts in 3D: the condyle of the jaw, the socket (fossa) and the articular eminence.
It can help your specialist assess:
- Changes in the shape or surface of the bone, such as flattening, erosion or bone spurs.
- Differences between the right and left sides.
- The aftermath of injuries or fractures.
- The position of the condyle in its socket, depending on the protocol.
What it doesn't show
CBCT shows bone, not soft tissue. The disc, ligaments and muscles of the joint can't be evaluated with it; when your specialist needs to see them, they usually order an MRI. That's why the right study should come from the professional treating you.
How the scan is set up
Depending on the order, we may scan one or both sides, or the jaw in different positions. Confirm the protocol with us on WhatsApp before you come.
