3D Dental CT Scan (CBCT) in Boca del Río, Veracruz

A cone beam CT scan shows your teeth, jaws and the structures around them in 3D, so your dentist can plan implants, root canals and oral surgery with accurate measurements.

Radiology: No appointment needed; bring your dentist's or doctor's order. Message us on WhatsApp at least 15 minutes before you arrive.

What is a dental CBCT scan?

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) builds a three-dimensional image of your teeth, jawbones and nearby structures. A regular dental X-ray flattens everything into one picture; a CBCT scan lets your dentist scroll through thin slices and look at the area from any angle — front, side or top.

That means your dentist or specialist can measure the height and width of the bone, find the nerve canal in the lower jaw or the floor of the sinus, and see root details a 2D X-ray can hide.

What is it used for?

  • Dental implants: measuring the available bone and locating the nerve and sinus. See CBCT for implant planning.
  • Root canal treatment: hard-to-see canals, lesions at the root tip, resorption or a suspected crack. See CBCT for root canals.
  • Oral surgery: impacted teeth and how close they sit to the nerve.
  • Jaw joints: the shape and condition of the bone in the joint. See TMJ scans.
  • Sinuses and airway, when your doctor or dentist orders them. See sinus and airway scans.
  • Orthodontics: the position of impacted teeth, such as canines, and how they relate to neighboring roots.

The dentist or doctor who orders the scan decides which area it should cover.

CBCT or panoramic X-ray?

A panoramic X-ray gives a quick overview of both jaws in one image and is often the first study at a checkup. A CBCT scan is ordered when your dentist needs 3D information: exact measurements, the distance to delicate structures or details a panoramic can't show. One doesn't replace the other — if you're not sure which you need, ask your dentist or message us.

What to expect

  1. Message us on WhatsApp with the study you were asked for and roughly when you'll arrive — at least 15 minutes ahead.
  2. Before the scan, take off earrings, piercings, glasses, hair clips and removable dentures; metal causes streaks in the image.
  3. You hold still while the scanner turns around your head. The scan itself takes about a minute.
  4. Your images are processed in about 5 minutes, and about 3 minutes later we hand you your scan on a USB drive. Prefer email? Allow about 4 more minutes.

No fasting or special preparation is needed. If you are or might be pregnant, tell us before the scan.

How much radiation?

A dental CBCT scan generally uses a lower dose than a conventional medical CT scan. The exact dose depends on the size of the area and the settings, so we scan only the area your dentist needs to see.

Price

A CBCT scan costs $1,200 MXN — the same for any area, including TMJ and sinus scans. We accept credit and debit cards, American Express, bank transfers and U.S. dollars. See all imaging prices.

FAQ

CBCT scan FAQ

Do I need a consultation at SAGA first?

No. Just bring your dentist's or doctor's order and message us on WhatsApp at least 15 minutes before you arrive.

How long does it take?

The scan itself takes about a minute. Your images are processed in about 5 minutes, and about 3 minutes later you have them on a USB drive — roughly 10 minutes in all. Email delivery takes about 4 minutes more.

What do I take home?

Depending on the study, digital images, DICOM files (the standard format planning software opens) and a viewer, so you can share the scan with any dentist — including your dentist back home.

How much does a CBCT scan cost?

$1,200 MXN for any area, including TMJ and sinus scans.

Can I have a CBCT scan if I'm pregnant?

Tell us before the scan. During pregnancy, X-ray studies are considered with extra care and non-urgent scans are usually postponed. Your doctor or dentist makes that call.
