Panoramic Dental X-Ray in Boca del Río
One image that shows both jaws, all your teeth and the structures around them. It's one of the most common X-rays for a general checkup.

What is a panoramic X-ray?
A panoramic X-ray — also called an orthopantomogram, or OPG — is an extraoral image: nothing goes inside your mouth. In a single pass it captures your upper and lower teeth, the bone of both jaws and nearby structures such as the jaw joints and part of the maxillary sinuses. The machine moves around your head for a few seconds.
What is it used for?
- A general look at teeth and bone, especially at a first visit.
- Impacted teeth, including wisdom teeth, and how they relate to neighboring teeth.
- Planning orthodontics, crowns and bridges, or implants.
- Teeth that haven't come in, cysts or other bone changes that need a closer look.
- Follow-up during treatment, as your dentist requests.
A panoramic is an overview. For a close-up of one tooth, your dentist may ask for periapical X-rays; when exact measurements or 3D information are needed — for an implant, say — a 3D CBCT scan is the usual choice.
How to prepare
No fasting or special preparation. Before the X-ray we'll ask you to take off earrings, piercings, glasses, hair clips and removable dentures. You bite on a small guide so your teeth line up, then hold still for a few seconds. If you are or might be pregnant, tell us first.
Price and results
A panoramic X-ray is $250 MXN, with digital results usually the same day. If your orthodontist also asked for a lateral ceph, ask us about package pricing.
FAQ
Panoramic X-ray FAQ
Do I need an appointment?
No. Just bring your dentist's order and message us on WhatsApp at least 15 minutes before you arrive.
How long does it take?
The X-ray itself takes a few seconds; allow a few more minutes for check-in and positioning.
Does a panoramic X-ray show cavities?
It can show some, but it isn't the best study for small cavities between teeth. For those, your dentist relies on the exam and, if needed, intraoral X-rays.
How much is it?
$250 MXN. Ask about package pricing if you need more than one study.
