Intraoral vs. extraoral

For intraoral X-rays — periapical and occlusal — a small sensor goes inside your mouth, which gives fine detail of a small area. For extraoral studies — panoramic, lateral ceph and 3D CBCT — the machine stays outside your mouth and captures a larger area. Your dentist picks the one that answers their question.

Are dental X-rays safe?

Dental X-rays use low doses of radiation, and digital imaging lets us use only the exposure needed for a useful image. Every X-ray should still have a clear reason, so we take the one your dentist or doctor orders. If you are or might be pregnant, tell us before your X-ray.

Getting your results

Results are digital and usually ready the same day. Depending on the study, you get images, DICOM files and a viewer you can share with your dentist.
