Zirconia Crowns and Bridges in Boca del Río
Strong, metal-free restorations with a natural look, designed in Exocad and made in our own lab.

What is dental zirconia?
Zirconia (zirconium oxide) is a high-strength ceramic used to make metal-free crowns and bridges. It combines fracture resistance with good compatibility with the tissues of the mouth, and its light color avoids the dark line at the gumline that metal-based crowns sometimes show.
What is it used for?
- Back teeth, where chewing calls for strength.
- Front teeth, using more translucent zirconia when looks are the priority.
- Bridges to replace one or more missing teeth.
- Implant restorations, depending on the system and the case.
There are different types of zirconia: some favor strength, others translucency. The choice depends on the available space, your bite, the tooth's position and the look the case calls for; the treating dentist makes the final call.
From scan to crown
- Records: an intraoral scan or models, plus shade, bite and photos.
- Design in Exocad: shape, contacts with neighboring teeth and how the crown meets the bite. See Exocad design.
- CAD/CAM fabrication from the digital design. See CAD/CAM.
- Sintering and finishing: the zirconia reaches its final strength in the sintering furnace, then it's characterized and glazed.
- Try-in and cementation at the clinic.
